Character, Concept and Cover Art

During my youth, I began drawing the characters and worlds of my own stories. As part of the publication of my first fantasy novel in 2012, I also created posters for my readers. Today, I primarily work digitally.

I do not work as a commissioned artist. However, for authors whose works I extensively edit and assist with as part of my editorial services, I am happy to provide support in expanding their stories through Character, Concept and Cover Art. This page showcases selected examples of such illustrations.

When immersed in a story, readers take in words and translate them into images. This symbiosis of predefinition and imagination significantly influences how characters, scenes, and settings are interpreted, and thus shapes the individual reading experience. But what process takes place in the creator's mind, what guides an author's imagination? Which comes first, the visual world of thought or the written word? In the interplay between the two — where imagination is put to paper and words simultaneously frame and shape the scenes in the mind's eye — conceptual art can contribute fantastically to capturing an author's imagination in form and colour and driving his writing — literally drawing out new ideas.
